Medical Assisting Technology
Program Overview
The Medical Assisting Technology program provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to perform both clinical and administrative tasks in healthcare settings. Students receive hands-on training in areas such as patient care, medical terminology, medical office management, billing and coding, and laboratory procedures. The program covers essential topics including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, infection control, and patient communication. Graduates are prepared to work as medical assistants in a variety of settings, including doctors' offices, hospitals, clinics, and outpatient care centers. The Medical Assisting Technology program prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians, to provide medical office administrative services and perform clinical duties including patient intake and care, routine diagnostic and recording procedures, pre-examination and examination assistance, and the administration of medications and first aid. This program includes instruction in basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical law and ethics, patient psychology and communications, medical office procedures, and clinical diagnostic, examination, testing, and treatment procedures. Short-term certificates are also offered while pursuing this AAS.
